Élan is a multidisciplinary artist whose work dives into the depths of transcendence and the relationship between the human being and the cosmos. He lives and works in Mexico City, with a solid background in Graphic Design and a Master in Visual Communication, Élan mixes digital techniques, painting, neon, marble, glass, mirror, carved wood, printmaking and collage taking as recurring chromatics the ultramarine blue color that connects him with the sea and the depths of the unconscious and in its counterpart with the freedom of the blue sky always finding the balance between the opposing forces of nature to create works that convey reflective meanings and restore the lost link with the universe that reminds us that the visible world is only the surface of a deeper reality. Influences from systems of thought and traditions such as alchemy, metaphysics and esoteric thought are intertwined in his work, resulting in an intentionally intuitive and experimental approach to art.
Both in intuitive terms and in their virtual representation, the sound and the visual correspond in their vibratory behavior: reality vibrates and the thresholds would make possible tunings in accordance with a transparent harmonic clarity. In addition to conceiving the territory of art as the place where correspondences or significant coincidences can be verified, as well as representing the vibratory warp that links consciousness and reality, Élan draws on other principles of the esoteric tradition such as the unitary compatibility of the configurations of the cosmic macro and the cosmic micro and the organic correlation of the parts with the whole.
For some creators, the esoteric repertoire represents, above all, an alternative formal system, a sort of skeleton or basic structure that can be inhabited by “profane” elements; for others, the esoteric traditions are a starting point, a posture and a perspective of reality in which the work represents both a phase and a manifesto: this is the case of Israel Gonzalez Élan.
His work has been exhibited institutionally in places such as: Nothing Comes From Nowhere, Galería Hilario Galguera, CDMX, Mexico (2023); Contemporaine De L'art Mexicain, Gallery AU, Paris, France (2022); Conjuros Cósmicos, LOOT, Mexico (2022); Biennale di Venezia, Fondazione Amadeo Modigliani, Venezia, Italy (2021); Mexico de Mil Colores, Casa Decor, Madrid Spain (2021); Latin Art Show, Cadena Gallery, USA, Chelsea New York (2019); among others.
